I tried out the new app Sphax released a few days ago, and noticed that it's impossible to play any music from iTunes while using the app. Once you open the app, it's automatically paused. And as far as I'm aware, this app isn't making any sound in the first place, so I don't know what's muting it. You can make it start playing again if you pull up the menu from the bottom of the screen & hit play, but it will stop the moment you close the menu and start using the app again.

If it helps, I still have ads turned on and I'm using the iOS version, although I'm not sure if there's an Android version in the first place.
