Texture bug

I have installed the sphax texture pack for my vanilla minecraft and the textures for grass and wooden planks are purple and black chequered blocks. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Are you sure you're using the right version of if the pack for the version of Minecraft you're using?

Are you sure the zip fully downloaded?

I have now updated my minecraft to latest version 1.9 and the bugs are rectified. Thank you for your help and sorry for my stupidity, thank you so much.
