Alternate Textures: So Everyone Is Happy

I just found this texture pack, and it's be far my favorite one. There is no other texture pack I like anywhere near as well, but their are things that I don't really particularly like. There are just a few things that I'd really like to change, but the problem is with that, is that not everyone would agree with me.
That's where Alternate Textures would come in. It's a brilliant way to keep everyone happy because all someone would have to do it replace the texture they like with the alternate that Sphax has created for the demanding fans of his texture pack. It really very simple, all Sphax would have to do is make a new image file with the texture that people want. Then all the people that want that alternate texture has to do, is replace the old texture with the alternate that they want.
The reason I've been wanting alternate textures is not only because not everyone will agree with me, but mainly because there are times I may want a small laid brick (when I want to build) for cobblestone and other times I'll want it the way it is right now (when I want to play survival). I think the diamond block and the iron armor could look more solid and full (The diamond block being just diamond without the wooden outline-- The iron armor could look more medevil and whole-- I'd like all the helmets to look that way also). Tell me what you think. ![]()

I have the idea to release a spritesheet of alternative textures since the beginning but I always wanted to find a good way to support custom texturepack without finding one...
In the future, I'll probably release a bunch of high def (512x512) alternative textures for some blocks like stonebricks, diamond block, grass, etc...

That's a great idea, but maybe you could ask around and find someone trained in programming, and make a little web app that allows you to choose from alternate textures and sizes before saving the sprite sheet. From a programmers aspect, it honestly wouldn't be difficult at all.
That would be AWESOME. I'd use that everyday, so that would be great. I'm not sure where Sphax could find find programmers but hopefully he'll find a way.
I'm going to school for programming starting next month. I'll see if I can figure out a way when I begin.
Sounds great, I wanna go to collage for programming but don't have a transcript yet, so I might have to wait until next semester. =/
Let me know if you've done something for a customizer.

I'll definitely look into it, Sphax. I'll PM you if I figure anything out.
Basically, I'm thinking the logic would be to look at #x, #y to ##x, ##y, and erase it, then replace that area with a new sprite. Implement a simple GUI, and you'd be set.
This is a great idea and something I really hope you consider. I too have spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect texture pack. I've gone through quite a few of some of the most popular and I simply found too many things I did't like about the others.
This is the first pack that I felt like every block took time and consideration when being designed. i truly enjoy everything about this pack. There are however a few blocks that I would love to see what you have in mind for an alt.
EXACTLY! That's why I had to post this. Sphax plans to create alternate textures fortunately, and I hope it's soon. This is my favorite texture pack and the only one I use.
I myself am a new texture designer and some tutorials of a time-lapse of him texturing would be awesome. I'd really like to know some of his techniques, because clearly their amazing.
Isn't there already minecraftcustomizer.net for what you guys were talking about?
It's a pretty good site I think, and I used it several times and it works like a charm.
