Whenever I start up Minecraft with the 512 pack patched in I don't even get into the start menu all I get is a black screen after it shows the Mojang logo and all that stuff. The 256 pack works just fine on my computer and I should have enough memory. I have 16GB of RAM. I'm not sure what to do.

Have you actually assigned more memory to Minecraft though? By default Java will only use 1GB until you tell it otherwise.
Yes, but what it doesn't seem to be making a difference. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Everything I have looked up has told me to go into the Control Panel and find the Java application. Click on that then go into the Java tab and click View. Then under the column named Runtime Parameters typing something like -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M. I have tried that up to setting the parameters to -Xmx8192M -Xms8192.
And do you have 64bit Java installed?
Yes I do. When looking up how to add more memory to Minecraft it said it to make sure I had the 64bit Java jdk. So I removed the version of Java I had just to make sure and then downloaded the 64bit version of Java.
How much RAM do you have?
What is your graphic card?
Are you on an x64 system?

I have 16GB of RAM.
I have the GEFORCE GTX 680.
Yes I have a Windows 7 64bit Operating System with an Intel Ivy Bridge i7 processor.
OK. Be sure to have Java x64 and to follow the FAQ to allocate more memory to JAVA
And if that doesn't help, try using a lower resolution of PureBDcraft.
