Mod Textures Aren't Properly-Advertised

This texture pack has shockingly good support for (all of?) the popular mods. Not to mention easy, full support of mod packs.

However, the advertising of these features is at fault for making them largely unknown.

In my opinion:
1. The Mod Patches page doesn't display a properly-extensive/impressive list. Also, external descriptions of the pack, such as on Planet Minecraft, don't do justice to be patches: they don't encourage users to explore them.

Based on my experience, most users of the texture pack have no idea they can also get textures for every single mod they use. Not to mention:

2. The full mod-pack packages, which are a major deal, and equally, if not more, important to users (most SMP mod-users probably use a mod pack) aren't advertised, even on this site, and this is an even bigger problem. One needs to dig the forums in order to discover these.

3. Obviously, more recognition of these endeavors would benefit everybody.

Quite funny you bring that up. The patches actually weren't even hosted on this forum not too long ago. They had an entirely different site. All the patches being put in one place along with the Sphax pack itself is relatively new and the mod pack patch threads themselves are even newer.

That being said, I agree with you. Sadly this isn't a proper web site, but simply a forum with some static pages to display information about the base Sphax pack. Sphax needs a proper web site for all of this stuff. You could say everything is just "patched" in to even allow for the packs to be shown here. You'll even notice a lot of the mods and mod patches that Sphax did himself, have not been updated in a very long time. I believe he literally ONLY has time for the base pack.

I might have to let him know it's time to bring all of these great textures to light, instead of hiding them in forum posts. The problem is time though... He's very busy. This is just a hobby for him and he had a lot more time when he first started this place.

Bottom line is, finding time to literally re-vamp this entire place or start on a fresh architecture to highlight ALL the textures.

Me and Pcmaster were working on a better indexing system not too long ago but it looks like it was abandonned as Sphax didn't have the time to implement something like this and it never became a thing. We were hoping to use mysql or something to index them in a database which would be accessed from a index page of all patches and their names resolutions and creators so it could be searched.

At the very least could you add a link to the homepage that goes directly to the patch index? It would make it a lot easier and faster to find it, especially for people new to this site.

The problem with that is, It's almost as if he doesn't want to highlight the mod patches... They're just here because they're "related". I messaged him a few times about some other stuff and he hasn't replied so I assume he's yet again busy with other stuff. He literally just has no time for anything regarding the site, other then updating the base pack. It's a shame really...

The great thing about mod patches is that they benefit everyone: BDCraft, the mods patched and the Minecraft community at general.

I've found that for the most part mod makers will put a link to your patch in the their mod threads if you let them know that it exists.

That said with Sphax being that busy maybe it's time to return the mod patches offsite once again where they can be properly indexed. Then all you'll need is a link in the "Partners" section to the right to drive traffic there. I'm sure Sphax would allow it since mod patches encourage wider use of his texture pack.

That's actually a good idea... I think I might bring that up to Sphax. I know HanFox loved how the other site was coded to handle the patches.

Damn, I signed up here after the other website went down and just didn't know about it!

In my opinion, it would not be a good thing to open another Website even if it's dedicated to Mod patches. I know forum posts are not that good to index all the patches but, infact, a lot of users are very happy with it and have already told me that it's pretty easy to find what they are coming for...

However, I have now a lot more time than before (since some days and for some months!) and I will be able to spend a lot of time to update the site in order to index and display all the Mod patches.

This website has been built and put online very fastly and is now hosted by professionals. I spend time to make it load fast and stay always online and accessible (and with good SEO). It would be a shame to return to a hobbyist like website...

If someone want to help me bring up a special page on this website to allow users find a Mod Patch, I would be very happy. Winking
A dynamic system would be awesome to replace the current Static page dedicated to Mods patches. Even if the final download page would be the forum post (in the meantime).

EDIT: About advertising, you maybe know that I've updated the Homepage to advertise some Mod patches and Mods Packs patches. It's a start. I'll probably create a random selection each day when we'll have a lot more cool banners (that we will be able to use in the Community DB). I'll also edit the PlanetMinecraft website description to let users know that so much patches exists for PureBDcraft. Winking
I also use Twitter and Facebook to speak about community made Mods patches.

interesting, because 90% of us (creators) would prefer to go back to ruyan's site than yours.

I made one 9 months ago. I even offered to help integrate it with the site. But you chose to ignore it.

pcmaster160: I'm very sorry about what you say. I never wanted to make you feel ignored by me... That was not intended, trust me. I was extremely busy (by my daily job) and some messages could have been bypassed... Now that I have a lot more time, we would be very happy to work on this with you.
I'll PM you. Winking
