Your log says you're using Windows 8 32bit (x86).

I may have installed java 32bit by accident could that be part of the problem and do you know why it might not have been working with 2gb

As far as I'm aware Java 32bit can still see if it's on a 32bit or 64bit OS, but if you think you made an error by all means try to install 64bit Java. If it won't work it'll tell you.

As for the memory issues there's no good reason I can think of why it wouldn't work with 2GB if your system definitely has more than 2GB in total.

Thanks for all your help I got java 64bit now and am running with 2 gb just so that I can use red craft
