I can't tell if this is a Minecraft bug or a Texture bug [Pretty sure it's the Latter, sadly], but something has gone wrong whilst using the latest release of the snapshot resource pack compared to a previous release (I cannot recall which snapshot it was, I had changed the name sadly]

I was wondering what I could do to fix it?
[I apologise if this is something blatantly obvious that I have missed but I've looked for a good length of time now.]

That's not a bug, but an intended feature that Sphax introduced.

There's currently no easy fix for it (a fix is possible, but takes a great deal of effort), but Sphax has commented on the matter...

I never liked this extrusion for HD packs. Sprites is way better than clunky/glitchy extrusions of HD textures and it allows anti-aliased textures for items aswell.

It could looks weird at first but the render is way better in my opinion.

However, I'll probably make patches of PureBDcraft to bring 3D items as before but not so soon.

If you do want it "fixed" now you'll need to get an older version of the resourcepack and copy the relevant items from that to the new resourcepack (this removes the anti-aliasing) and then delete all the relevant files from /assets/minecraft/models/items in the new pack (e.g. you'd need to copy the diamond sword from the old pack and then delete diamond_sword.json from the new pack).

I'd not really call it a great deal of effort, but it's a bit fiddly.

One must also remove the AA from around the edges of the new items though, requiring the use Photoshop and batch actions. While this isn't difficult for anyone familiar with (and with access to) Photoshop, it would pose a significant challenge for the majority of users.

No, you can just use items from old packs, like I said in my post.

I was referring to 'new items' in terms of items that have recently been added to the game, not the new anti-aliased item textures that Sphax has made. There are no textures for prismarine and rabbit items in previous versions of the RP, hence copying textures over from old packs will leave a large number of textures with the weird transparent effect that you displayed in your apple screenshot on the 'Feedback for 1.8' thread.

Oh, indeed, but suffering a few items at 2D that didn't exist before probably won't effect people too much. The vanilla skinned rabbits are creepy anyway, they need burning and all their remains tossing in to the void. They have haunting dead eyes...

It's still an easy fix for 95% of the items and hopefully Sphax will do other versions (enough people will likely be irked by the 2D stuff to force his hand anyway ;)). My thought is generally a plain boring just textures pack, then everything else is addons (i.e. MCPatcher/Optifine extras, models, flat items, sounds, music, etc.).

A solid MC1.8 is a ways away anyway. If Mojang don't change things with models again I'd be surprised (even if they've said it's now final they're not very good at working to targets).

Oh gosh. Well that's dramatic... :D

Agreed. Back in the ol' days, it made sense to have a few extra features from mods included in the main pack, but nowadays the possibilities that resource packs allow (what with models, random blocks, sounds, music, etc.; not to mention the possibilities introduced by Optifine/MCpatcher) can vastly alter the RP experience. Given that sounds and music were made to be optional right from the get-go, which seems to have worked out fairly well, I would assume this approach would be effective with the the possibility of 3D models and 2D items now. Moreover, I would be inclined to suggest that it might be more important this time round as well, as such dramatic changes already seem to have been received roughly 50/50 in terms of positive and negative criticism. Forcing either side of the audience to accept the other solution will likely just result in endless suggestion threads (or in more extreme cases, abandonment of the RP) from those who perceive the changes negatively.

Splitting the pack up and making 3D models, 2D items, MCpatcher features, etc. available as patches in a separate download would simplify things and satisfy both portions of the audience (and as an added bonus for you, Han, perhaps reduce the commonness of 'Bug reports' resulting from people not allocating (or just having) enough RAM, as those will probably occur much more often with the release of MC1.8 ).

tl;dr: Yep. :)

Guh, I tried it for a bit of time, replacing the texture file of the item and deleting the relevant item [All tools/Weaponry except bows] from the models folder but it didn't work out properly sadly, I don't mind though, I'll just use the 14w06b pack for now I believe.
