Minecraft Java Edition 1.18 - Music Pack Not Working Properly

I have the music resource pack installed, but the only time I consistently hear music play is on the main menu. In game, it can be literal hours before a song will start playing and then it will be just as long before the next song, and adjusting volume does not help.

The Music pack doesn't change the frequency of music playing, it just replaces the tracks.
In-game music has always been fairly infrequent. You may just be noticing more as you expect to hear new stuff?
If you'd just prefer to listen to the music at your leisure you can always extract the zip and play the oggs in your favourite media player
