hi

why exactly is an official email provider like protonmail not accepted to register here on bdcraft? i was kinda forced to create some other mail to register myself, since my original protonmail wasnt accepted. makes no sense.

Spammers were using it almost exclusively, and not many legitimate users use it. It's fairly widely documented that a lot of spam comes from ProtonMail.

The email domain was banned in April and prior to that only 7 users were using that domain.

As few users used it for legitimate means it seems acceptable to block it in order to have to moderate less spam.

i see.. but why only protonmail? there are actually alot of email providers where you can easily make an email adress with no much effort. i dont see much difference between protonmail and other email providers. i mean, its not like protonmail does the spam. its the people who abuse protonmail to create spam accounts on other websites. unfortunately other legit uers like me have to suffer under this. and uh... if only 7 people were using protonmail, how was protonmail then used for massive spam if there are only 7 people with protonmail? *is a bit confused*

is there any chance i can switch my email adress to protonmail now, after i registered? since i would like to keep my forum accounts on one email and not on multiple ones.

- and thanks for the quick answer, btw.

That's true, you can use lots of places to spam, but very few domains show up as much as ProtonMail. Most the time spammers create fresh domains themselves.

I delete spam accounts as they're not useful to keep around, hence why only 7 of our 28,483 members are on ProtonMail (less than 0.001%).

ProtonMail as a service provider is responsible for what their users actually do. It seems somewhat evident that they aren't being robust enough about dealing with spammers which is likely why spammers like to use it.

I can change your email for you manually if you really need it changing.

well the reason i use protonmail is because they do not ask tons of private stuff like mobile phone numbers, where you live etc etc. today's email providers exaggerate with the data they want and i do not agree with most of them. so protonmail is kinda refreshing to register on several forums if you need to ask for support or help.

that would be actually really nice if you could change my email, since it looks like i cant change into protonmail even after registering myself. if you dont mind i will send you a private message with my protonemail (since I would prefer not to reveal it in public) :)

thank you in advance
