MC1.17 - The Cave and Cliffs - but everyone only cares about Axolotl - update

Welcome to the feedback thread for the 1.17 & 1.18 release of PureBDcraft! :)

The team that created this pack is HanFox, Lizannamae, Sphax, and StickerMonster!

If you have any feedback, comments, ideas, or opinions about the latest version of PureBDcraft please post in the thread.

If you find any bugs please post them in the Bug Reports section or Discord.

Issues we already know about

Issues Pending Fix
  • None currently :star:
Fixed in Downloads
  • Some villagers are scaled incorrectly -- fixed in 1.17r3
Won't Fix
  • When glass panes are placed on top of other glass panes in a "step" design there's a hole in the top/bottom of the pane. This is because Mojang hasn't made the panes aware of other panes above/below them. We prefer those gaps over not being able to do a nice solid glass pane effect

Hi, I'll keep myself brief.
While playing around with the new features of 1.17 with PureBDcraft on I have been kinda suprised how vibrant and bright the moss texture is compared to the moss blocks/carpets without the texture pack.
While I don't think that is necessarily bad I personally would prefer a darker, more gritty/dreary moss, more in line with the tone and texture of the moss on mossy cobble stone/bricks.

If enough other people feel the same and/or the BDcraft team feels this is a good idea, I think a good way to implement something like this would be through the BDcraft customizer giving everyone the option to choose the texture they prefer.

Best regards,
Sizano

Great work on the update! My particular faves are the glow berries, all the various amethyst textures, and the choice of vanilla-style trapdoors in the customiser. The raw ore blocks are also great! Also love the Mudkip! :D

Now I'm gonna have to start playing the latest version and split my time between 1.17/18 and modded 1.16.

After re-evaluating it I think the choice by Sphax is to re-do the texture entirely as he doesn't think it quite fits right. If that does happen it probably won't be added to the customiser at all.

That particular style may be moved to VanillaBDcraft and probably be muted a bit, too.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I was looking at the textures, and personally, I feel all these look off and rushed, and look flat, and some have speckles you have missed in the clean up phase. I think the textures should be revised and properly done. The axolotls have a lacking in continuity, the pink has full black eyes (which I think is the best looking eyes for this style) as the rest don't, the axolotls that have spots look ill, especially the cyan/light blue one. The raws don't make sense, there's more stone then raw ore, it also looks very off, with the blocks they feel lacking, they don't look that nice. poor amethyst it looks so pretty, but not now, the crystals in the blocks look very out of place, and missing variation. All I can say for the pointed dtip stone is it looks like an adult toy, but the block looks a slight bit like skin? And has a lot of dark around the sides. The skope, looks very weird. The drip leaf is very jaged. I just think you should go back to the drawing board and take more time in these textures, I was really excited to see these textures, I really love this resource pack, but I was quite disappointed at these textures. Thank you for reading, I hope you'd take this into consideration.

It's saddening you feel that way, but we've not had anyone else be this negative about the update. In fact, most the feedback has been really positive, so I'm not really sure what to say.

We'll take your feedback on-board, and maybe things will be tweaked in the future if more people give specific feedback about certain things though (and, of course, we agree with them).

As for the raw metal lumps I'm tempted to do some alts for the customiser that are more like vanilla (or at least with no stone / shards of the block), as I can see what you're saying there.

Hi, I just had another thought which might be a good suggestion.
Wouldn't it be nice to add stalagmites/stalagtides to the 3d blocks pack?
They already have a hitbox so with a three dimensional structure they could look/feel pretty cool I imagine.
