Is there a possible way through your Marketplace contacts to strongly urge Mojang to *NOT* roll out TTF with 1.13? As BDCraft posted over Twitter, this seriously seems like a bad move. Is there anyone open to listen to "this is a freakin' bad plan" out there?

I like the idea, I think it would be fantastic to allow TTF as an *option* and resolve i18n issues in fonts. 1.13? Right now? Today? HELL NO! I hope you can persuade them to table this for a future release and allow time for porting resource pack fonts to TTF to get ironed out. No way in hell this should be a Pre6 "Oh by the way..."

The best places to report bugs in Minecraft is the Mojang bug tracker: https://bugs.mojang.com
(See: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132708 / https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132736)

Suggestions are best heard by MC Java devs in the Minecraft subreddit.

FWIW, there is already a mod that allows using TTF in some existing versions of Minecraft, and possibly has it implemented better than Mojang (based on that second bug that HanFox linked):

If 1.13 releases without fixes for those two bugs, I might stay with 1.12.2 for a while.

I checked those bugs again, and there are indications that 132708 is fixed in 1.13-pre7, and that 132736 is no longer relevant (because TTF support may have been pulled). Frustratingly, neither bug is mentioned directly on the pre-release 7 changelog, just a vague "Fixed outstanding issues with the new improved fonts".

It looks like somebody heard, at least to allow old bitmap fonts to override Seven.TTF. The version of Faithful I have works now, and hopefully we'll see BDCraft 1.13 roll out soon. :)

It actually appears that, in true Mojang fashion, they just rolled back the change entirely because instead of them testing it and working it out properly it's way more important that they get over-excited and release a buggy feature...

Hopefully it'll make a comeback at some point with proper support. TTF fonts would be way nicer than the current glyph sheet.

They actually seem to have added a way to refine it slightly. It doesn't look too bad currently. Not perfect, but better.

If they would add alpha transparency on fonts (for AA on borders) and possibility to customize font colors on each UI panel, that would be great for us. ;)
