Dense Ores

"This mod adds 'dense' versions of ore blocks that will drop 3x the items that regular ore will. It generates about 1-10 dense blocks per chunk (replacing already generated ores). for an overall increase in ores of about 5%."

Notes

Dense Ores auto-generates 'dense' versions of regular ore textures, but this doesn't really work too well with HD packs - PureBDCraft included. Fortunately, Dense Ores allows these to be bypassed with custom textures, so here begins a collection of custom 'dense' versions of both Sphax' and several well-known community-made PureBDCraft ores.

I've gone through and - to the best of my ability - recreated each mod ore as vector assets, and created Dense versions of each. I should probably have hunted around for individual source designs, but I wanted to unify everything into a collection of PSDs with similar layouts/layer styles.

Supported Mods

  • Vanilla Minecraft
  • Thermal Foundation
  • IndustrialCraft2
  • Tinkers' Construct
  • Applied Energistics 2
  • Nether Ores
  • Metallurgy 4 (All)
  • Railcraft
  • Project:Red
  • Forestry
  • Big Reactors
If you'd like to contribute Dense versions of ores from other mods, and/or have requests for dense versions, then post away! Just be sure to work in 512x, and provide vector graphics. The source PSDs provided below may help you.

Good idea! Assuming Dense Ores works with Metallurgy I'll get working on these next week. I'm running off of my mobile data allowance at the moment, so my testing ability is a little limited (also why there's only a 64x/128x download at present).

If the current Metallurgy patch maintainer doesn't mind, I might also use the opportunity to make some unique textures for each ore - they currently look a little too similar, save for their colouring. Might take a while however. :)

Added:
  • Metallurgy (All)
I'll update the OP with previews, and some updated PSDs - one for each mod ore collection.

I know you asked for vectors, but I opened PhotoShop last night when I tried to do this and just got instantly angry. I know it's sort of an easy program if you give it a bit of time to learn what the buttons do (I've actually made textures with it before and somehow eradicated all knowledge of the program from my mind again!), but compared to Fireworks and when in a rush it's like trying to get blood from a stone.

I'll maybe revisit them, but for now they're here for those that don't need vectors.

BigReactors
  • Includes:
    • Yellorite

Forestry
  • Includes:
    • Copper & Tin copy/pasted from IC2
    • Apatite
downloads rolled in to OP

Railcraft
  • Includes:
    • Abyssal Diamond, Emerald, Lapis (these are actually edits of the PSDs just changing the base)
    • Poor Copper, Gold, Iron, Lead, Tin
    • Firestone
    • Saltpeter (base edit of Metallurgy)
    • Sulfur (base edit of Metallurgy)
downloads rolled in to OP

Tinkers' Construct
  • Includes:
    • Aluminium Ore
    • Gravel ores (they could do with a much better design)
downloads rolled in to OP

Decided to make my netherrack static (hoping to save some performance, but I doubt it'll make any difference) and noticed the static variations you've supplied are "wrong". Sphax doesn't just use the first frame for his static nether. In his static versions all the circles are actually circular.

If you need the correct static texture to "fix" the static variations you can find it in the blocks_alt_static in the resourcepack.

If I do actually start playing properly again before you change them I'll probably post an updated version, though.

Also it'd be nice if you added my patches to the OP. I know you asked for vectors, but 99% of the users don't need them so it'd be nice if all the available textures were apparent in the OP.

The vector request was mainly to make future patchers' lives easier when it comes to making more BDCraft ores, and keep them maintainable. But it's not too much of an issue.

Sadly I haven't really been able to dedicate any time to BDCraft recently, nor do I think I'll be able to for the near future, so if anyone wants to take up the helm of this thread, then please feel free to do so - all of the source files are in the OP.

Ah, fair enough. Life happens.

At some point I'll look at updating your downloads to add my stuff and possibly fix the static netherrack ones (maybe even do PSDs for stuff).

Hope you find the time to come back one day. The stuff you've done is awesome. :)

I've done some. I will upload them soon and roll all my extra textures from before in to the main zips and update the OP.

Going to be a while because I'm optimizing all the PNGs to save some bandwidth and when doing it to nether ores that are about 16,000px tall at 512x it takes a while ^.^;;
