Wait a second - the folder structure is in the MOD zip file itself?

Ok lets take as an example the Extra Utilities mod.

extrautils - 0.3.5.zip

In there, we see a folder called extrautils.

In that, there is no textures folder but there is a texture folder.
All that this contains is a few .class files.
In fact, I don't see any .png files anywhere in the zip file of the mod itself.

So in the texture pack, we see heaps of .png files. How do you know that there's supposed to be a file called \assets\extrautils\textures\blocks\rain_muffler.png ? I don't see this in the mod zip anywhere.

Thanks

As of 1.6, textures now are placed in assets-->modname-->textures (usually).

The folders in the texture patch need to correspond exactly to the naming conventions used in the mod itself. If a texture is in assets/extrautils/textures, it has to be there in the mod patch for it to work. Further, the names of the texture files need to match.

Sorry, I can't explain it any differently.

Well, I'm starting to understand how this is done. I have a question though specific to this mod (Extra Utilities). I noticed that in the patch file, the compressed cobblestone textures exist with names like cobblestone_compressed_1.png. However, these do not exist in the actual mod zip. Yet they show up in the game. So how did the patch author know that these were the filenames for the compressed cobblestone blocks? There's also colorWoodPlanks.png and colorStoneBrick.png.

you have to rename the folder extrautilities to extrautils (its inside the folder assets)

Started working on some of the missing textures for this at 128x
Have added:
Novamanga's Enderthermic Pump & Ethereal Glass

My:
nodeUpgrade/Creative /Ender /EnderReceiver /Mining /Stack
Unstablenugget
scanner
enderlilyseed (Based on Sparkst3rs Thaumcraft Mana Bean)

Still to do
27 blocks
8 stages of ender lily
96 connected textures (Not sure how good I'll be at these......)

Will upload a link once I have a few more completed.

The GUI's not lining up right was bothering me, so I fixed them.
This is the same 1.6 64x patch from the OP, but with the following changes.
renamed patch folder to "extrautils"
removed guiFilter.png [misaligned extra texture]
renamed gui_Filter.png to guiFilter.png [correct alignment, wrong filename]
removed goggle_overlay.png [was default texture resized smaller]
fixed guiTransferNode.png [corrected alignment, added missing upgrade slots]
removed thumbs.db

I can hardly wait to see what you do with the enderlilie plant!

We need a super cool enderlilie plant texture! (hint: use the Sphax ender pearl, adding foliage).

I'm no texture artist, just learning actually so don't get your hopes up too high. LOL

I did a bunch last night (yes used the pearl) but not entirely happy with the outcome. I'm going to redo them again tonight/tomorrow now that I have a better idea.

I had the top of the enderlilly seed crack open and a stem come out and then the pearl grow larger over the 7 stages. Like a flower on a stem. It didn't look right in the end.

I think I want to redo it with the pearl itself pushing out of the seed and growing larger, more like cauliflower or a lettuce than like a flower. Will see how it turns out.
