I'm having an odd issue with the 1.12.2 pack. Loading the pack alone is fine, but having it enabled along with a bunch of other mod packs, it makes all ressourcepacks getting unloaded. I pinpointed it down to this pack, as i enabled all packs one by one and when selecting this patch, it happens. I might have to pinpoint again, with what other patch it collides, but it's quite some work, as i have around 48 patches. Loading them all, but pams harvestcraft works. Still weird, since no other patch touches pams harvestcraft...
Has anyone else experienced this kind of issue?
Do you think it's possibly a memory issue? I only ask because the Pam's mods have a great deal of textures and that with all of those on top of the pack it might be too much for the game to handle? If you can try allocating more RAM into the modpack, and if that fails I will look into the files to see if there's a more substantial issue at hand.

That was a good idea, but not the solution unfortunately. I already allocated 32 GB RAM to it. Increased it to 43 GB, but no change. It just makes no sense, as i can load the ressource pack alone or just with the BDcraft 128x pack and 3D Blocks pack. All fine, but loaded with all the patches it unloads every single pack.

EDIT: Okay, i've now tested every single pack again, but with pams pack enabled and that worked... Is there some sort of limit to how many textures are getting loaded / replaced? I could try to allocate even more RAM, but not sure what my max is to not make my system unstable (i got 64 GB RAM).

32 is waaayyy more than enough, ive ran sphax with pams and 100 other patches on 12gb, whatever your issue is I doubt its a RAM issue

Just a small update on my issue:

As of now, i'm thinking it might actually be an RAM issue. I've been monitoring my game for some time now and it seems like there is an specific mod that is taking up a ton of ram or even has a memory leak. Because the 43 GB Ram are actually getting fully used (!) and i'm getting an Stack Overflow OpenGL Error sometimes (happens rarely, but it happens). Not sure which specific mod that is, but i'm pretty sure 43 GB Ram should be way more than enough for my current mod selection. Not sure if this could be related to my issue with this texture pack patch, but i guess so.

Gonna need more investigation but it's time consuming so we'll see.

Well, i don't have mystcraft, but a few other bigger ones. Still, i think 43 GB should be way more than enough to handle them properly.

My biggest mods are:

Aether
Applied Energistics 2
Biomes o Plenty
CoFH
Decocraft
EnderIO
Galacticcraft + More Planets AddOn
Industrialcraft 2
Pams Harvestcraft
Thermal Series (i think that counts to CoFH, not sure anymore tbh)
Traverse Reforged
Xaeros Mini + Worldmap

Forge says i've got around 140 mods, but 40 or 50 are just depencies or libraries. Everything else are just small mods like patches or QoL things like Treechopper, tombstones and such.

I've used to have Serenal Seasons with Serenal Tweaks and that was running fine, until the winter came and that really blew up the RAM somehow. I think it was due to serenal tweaks, as it's supposed to cover biomes i haven't visited in a longer time in snow aswell.

Still, i believe my RAM should be far more than required to run all of this mods, so i think something is leaking or unnesseray bloating the ram. Not sure what though.

One thing I remember Novamanga saying a couple of years ago now was that modpacks truly struggle to run large modpacks with resource packs at 128x so he only made modpack patches for 64x and 32x. I am not entirely sure why this happens, but it might just be limitations of forge/fabric and that a change of RAM is futile to solve it. I know it is not ideal, but perhaps try the 64x and see if that improves performance?

I'll give it a try, once i've time to re-download all the patches in 64x. Otherwise i could just remove all patches and use vanilla textures and see if the ram still runs very high.

Gonna keep you updated.

Alright, so after multiple play sessions just using a single 16x texture pack it seems like you've been correct from the beginning. RAM usage has reduced drasticly without any higher resolution pack. With all the patches enabled the allocated memory usage was always right at the top, now with all packs disabled and only a single 16x texture pack ram usage has lowered to around 20 GB. I think that's still pretty high, but since i use some heavy packed mods i can't blame minecraft i guess. So either i reduce all patches to 64x or just use vanilla textures.

I'll see, but still thanks for all your replys.

Im back on 1.12 for some fun with friends, and doing some custom avaritia recipes, would anyone be willing to sphaxify the raw fish that dont have textures? All I can do is copy and change the colour of the vanilla fish which makes them look awful.
