Some smeltery bits and pieces. Not sure how relevant they are now but here they are nonetheless https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/455 ... blocks.zip

Nice textures, although the molten glass seems to have the same texture as molten iron.

I made some dodgy ones for me:

The liquids were from the original patch and I have not altered these. I'll have a look at changing the molten glass colours when I next update. There is a new material shown in the 1.6.2 update so when this is usable I'll update.

Edit: I've had a look and the glass is a lighter shade than the iron, so I won't be changing it.

Hey nova, you'll be happy to know that the bug is going to be fixed. It got put under his "important" things to get done, on his TODO list, so it should be fixed I'd say within the next couple iterations.

Cheers Aedaeum. Glad to know it wasn't my textures. Was quite concerned for a while seeing Tinkers is adding more textures in the latest 1.6.2 build.

Thanks for all the work on this. I recently discovered Tinker's Construct and it's great there's a Sphax-style texture pack for it.

I'm running into a problem with it, however. When I add the textures in, my frame rate drops to about 2-5 fps. Without them, it jumps back up to 20-30 fps. I tested by adding each mod's textures one at a time, and it's definitely caused by the TC textures. I have 2 GB of memory allocated to the game, and 512 MB for instructions, so it's not caused by lack of memory.

The textures for TC alone total over 30 MB, but the textures for vanilla and 11 other mods combined total only about 50 MB. Also, a lot of the liquid textures have dimensions of 128 x 8192.

Is this normal? I didn't see any complaints like this in the thread, so I'm wondering if it's something about my setup causing this.

Thanks in advance.

There are over 3500 separate files in this texture pack alone. This has been causing all sorts of problems for people with lesser computers. I play the FTB Unleashed pack and have to allocate over 6GB to get it to run at 128x. The problem comes from the way Java uses textures. It uses masses of memory for this. Bring up your task manager to see how much javaw is using and adjust accordingly. Also I believe there are ways to force your graphics cards to help Java out.

As for the liquid textures. These are just recoloured versions of the original Sphax pack water files so quite normal for 128x.

All I can suggest is use the 64x pack instead. I know this will run on an i3 as one of my friends has one of these. Hope you can get it to work.

Oh and don't try optifine as this will cause MC to crash with this pack. Something about the number of files again. It has been raised on the optifine forums and they are looking into it. See Aedaeums post above.

Ok, that explanation makes sense. This was the first Sphax texture I'd installed that was so large, and it was such a drastic performance hit I was afraid something might be wrong. I have an i5 with 8 GB, so I'll try your suggestion to allocate more memory and find some Java tricks, before dropping back to 64x.

Thanks!

I bumped up to 4 GB allocated to test and, even though Minecraft started using nearly 3 GB, frame rate was still in the single digits. Instead of continuing to tinker with it, I just switched to the 64x version of TC and now all is well.

The difference in resolution isn't drastic, especially for dark objects like the smeltery, and it's still miles better than the original. I'm using an iMac, so I'm stuck with my video card, barring major surgery.
