I downloaded everything set it up correctly (I think) but whenever I go to select the texture pack it acts as if its working but then loads to the default texture pack. Not sure if I did something wrong or what but anything I can do to fix this?
I have the same problem. I have 8GB of ram allocated to Minecraft so don't think that is the problem either. I am using winrar to combine the two packs. Load the resource pack and it just resets it to default.

If i load the resource packs separately such as the standard sphax pack it works fine then if I add the extra pack linked here it unload all the packs and goes back the the default minecraft textures.

By process of elimination it seems that is is appliedenergistics2 that is causing the problem. Deleting that texture pack from the assets folder allows the rest of the pack to load normally. I tried downloading the textures from the applied energistics thread and replacing it but that also seems to cause the problem so there must be something in those textures that this pack does not like.

Are you increasing the "RAM Maximum" option in the Feed The Beast Launcher? It doesn't matter how much RAM your system has if you don't increase that setting. I have the option in the launcher set to "4.0 GB" and the texture packs load fine for me. I've seen the behavior you are talking about when the "RAM Maximum" setting is left at the default.

I noticed that this pack and the comparable ones that come with FTB don't handle the slate/deadwood/charredwood textures. I've done a bit of tinkering and come up with the attached. to make them work however you need to do some tinkering.

I've also added some slightly different crackedsand/redsand to give the pack a slightly bleaker gritty edge. Hope you don't mind OP ;)

The original post includes a separate download for updating the Quadrum textures. however, from you screenshot I do like your crackedsand a lot better. I'm going to check it out.

Update: yep, I'm definitely keeping the cracked sand, it just feels a lot more barren. However, I think it could also be tweaked a bit (I'm not at all good at graphic design, so this may not be helpful). I'm not sure what it is about it, but for a sphax texture it just seems really "busy". Like it's almost a tad too detailed for a sphax texture. I still definitely like it better though. In particular the color is really spot-on both for staying truer to the original mod and for what I would imagine a barren wasteland to look like.

I know what u mean with the busy texture! I really envy the sphax pack's simplicity! I might have another crack at it later this week ☺

Did you use the vanilla hoed dirt ("farmland") sphax texture to make your texture? Also, is your texture only 32x? I think if you stuck with the solid lines from the hoed dirt and just changed the color, and used the 64x texture, it would look great. Maybe flip it or rotate it so it doesn't mesh right into the hoed dirt when they are next to each other (or maybe meshing right into each other would look okay, I know some other textures do it, like a lot of people borrow and recolor the cobblestone texture).

Hey, i did some work on an alternative. this is truer to Sphax. It's using one of the blocks in another modpack.

Updated Quadrum again so re-download, thanks Nova for all the new block textures.

Testing the cracked sand textures you've both done, I'm not a fan of busy textures which is why I replaced the original in the first instance. But I can update the first post with links after I've looked at them.

I'm liking Jonniosaurus's original cracked sand more and more as I used it. It just looks like it's a lower resolution or something though. I'll also give the new one a try but I'm super busy for the next couple days.

I think I know why it looks low res. I think it's down to the grittiness. Sphax uses fewer mixes of shades. I've run that texture through a noise wash giving it that kind of rough edge. The trouble is, the less busy you make it, the more repetitive it'll look, I'm trying to capture something like the following using existing Sphax textures but i'm struggling to get that kind of finish.

It might be a better idea to try something from scratch!
