Well 2 months of this poll pretty much reveal it's a pretty close run thing so it's pretty unlikely there's reason to roll back the font.

Just remember people the old font is still available in \assets\minecraft\textures\font called ascii_alt1.png

Also, whilst we're talking about the font there's a mistake on the new font's glyph sheet. The dot above the 0 (zero) shouldn't be there, it should be blank. I think that's meant to be a full width space? At least that's how the ComputerCraft mod uses it as it's a blank space in the default vanilla ...

The lines are due to AA not working correctly in Minecraft and has nothing to do with the texturepack. If you have a Nvidia card you'll need to turn AA off via this: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Antialiasing - Mode There's also a smaller chance it'...
