Is anyone aware that Oort Online's texters appear to be stolen :ninja: from BDcraft. Look it up on steam and watch the gameplay trailer

After watching the trailer, I think the only ones that may be ripped off is the tree logs and possibly ice (although it's definitely a different texture than PureBDcraft) Other than that, the rest isn't too similar, IMO. @Sphax may think differently though.

Sphax has been aware for a long time. Not sure what he's doing about it, but it's not new news ;)

I think the general idea is as Oort have "redone" them Sphax is "happy" about it.

Sadly that's a case of pure stolen textures.
Initially, Oort was using PureBDcraft textures without authorization and for commercial use.

I never agreed with that...

Knowing that this can lead to problems for them, the team decided to remake all of those textures themselves but the result is still "modeled" on PureBDcraft textures...

I'm not happy at all with that way of doing things. That's not fair and that's not nice.

They didn't even put any credit anywhere to "thanks" BDcraft.net for textures...

Oh, that's a shame. Considering you just sort of let it slide (you could still probably report them via their ISP/Steam) it's hard to realize you were having a dispute. Probably a bad idea to let it slide considering they've been around a while and making money. They charge a lot for that game... £26.99. I don't even pay that for Triple A games any more... (I never buy games upon release because I'm cheap :P).

If the steamspy stats are even vaguely correct they've made about $182,000 from sales (after the 30% Steam takes and considering if everyone paid $20 (they've likely made more)). You'd think they might want to compensate you somehow as their art style is derived from your work. :|

I think you are right (as always [emoji6] ) but I don't have time and forces to fight against people who don't want to do the things the fair way... They made money with their game and that's cool. I think their game is quite a good Minecraft clone (one of the best) but I'm not happy with their decisions of doing things regarding the art part...

Using someone else work for so long without any credit (the alpha and beta had most of their textures directly picked up from PureBDcraft) is a very bad thing.

However I can't and don't want to explain more that case publicly...
