Seems this occurs in BDCraft 1.8.4 as I just upgraded from 1.8.3. I'm playing on 1.8.1 Minecraft.

I can see every torch fire particle in a 20 chunk radius and it looks like the flickering of city lights, whereas before the particle would fade away as you moved away.

I know this isn't the best of evidence pics, but normally at this distance, you wouldn't see any of the torches, you'd just see the light emanating off of them.

It's actually an animation (you can find the file for it in /assets/minecraft/textures/blocks/bdc_torch.png) and not particles, but I agree they're too big which makes them overly visible from far away.

I imagine Sphax added the animation for the flame as without it Minecraft actually removes the particles effects and thus the flame after about 8 blocks which is also rather jarring.

Sphax may need to revisit the animation to make them slightly less huge and hopefully that'll make them less obvious from distance.

Guess I'll have to copy over the 1.8.3 anim then, kinda like what I did with the pentagon crosshair (switching it back to the standard minecraft +).

I prefer it fading away, or rather, not being so large.

EDIT: 1.8.3 doesn't have bdc_torch.png. Weird. Gonna run a test then.

Indeed, older packs may not have it. As I said Sphax likely added it to counter the fact particles disappear after a few blocks from torches and people were actually complaining about that... can't please everyone ;)

But I still agree the flame is too big :P

Well I fixed it using the 1.8.3 JSON files, and made a fix for players on my little 1.8.1 MC server:

Well, it's not a fix, because now you have the particle issue, but whatever works for you ;)

What issue? The particles disappearing over 8 blocks? I like that. Much less distracting.

I was speaking generally. As I said others don't like them disappearing. Your issue is fixed, that's great, but in general the issue is still there.

Regardless, I shall lock this. If Sphax wants to weigh in he can.
