Mod patch community dead?

Hi guys, I've been trying to get mod patches for a 1.16.4 modpack called Dawn of Fire, but so far I've literally come up with zero compatible patches. Either there's no patch at all or it's woefully out of date (1.12.2 at the newest). Has the BDCraft mod patch community died?

Basically no one helps make patches.

For the past 4 years there was only Novamanga and myself who did much (others have come and gone), and when I stopped due to lack of time and drive Novamanga was left by himself. Since then Novamanga has also stopped working on patches, probably fatigued with the lack of help, too.

The continued attitude of this "community" is that everyone else should make all the textures. No one ever tries to help.

Even after threads were made with resources in to help people get started 99.9% of people just seem disinterested and don't bother.

If you want something updated I suggest you help get it updated.

I don't have the skillset for it, unfortunately. Damn.

If I were to bring out an updates pack for my favourite modpack, would it be as simple as collecting all the separate patches and combining them into a single pack? If some patches are outdated am I able to take older textures and somehow port them across to a newer version?

Any guidance would be appreciated, I am in no way artistically talented so I want to try and combine already made textures into a single pack or edit older versions to make them available for newer versions. I want to help out, I just have no idea where to start and I don't have the skills to create any new textures from scratch.

I am also looking to learn to get into this, and while I am not a professional, I do know my way around basic brushes, layers, etc in Photoshop/Gimp and could try to use previous assets to create new ones. I also do not really have an idea where to start. Is there a repository of source material to start from? Do I just download a pack? How do I figure out what is missing?

I am confident we can get a new "age" of texture makers, if people are willing to put in the work for the community. :)

If you are willing to point those my way, I'll start digging in. I found the repository threads, but not sure if there's templates out there?

Not really sure what else to provide, or what people would really need, but I assure you, and whoever reads this, that it's not hard to make PureBDcraft styled textures. Almost everything is a relatively simple shape, with an inner glow, & inner shadow, and maybe a stroke or drop shadow.

That is what I was thinking. PureBDCraft is not some 4k texture for Skyrim looking for realism, it's a cell shaded, comic book style. As long as there's templates, and source textures, I was thinking that it's just a matter of putting it all together, and having the time. Well, I have nothing but time outside work, and there's a clear need here.

Okay, I was saddened by reading HanFox's comment.
I am one of those who take without giving in this community. It's unfortunate and so I tried to start porting some mods to a more recent version (1.16.5) and even some 'creation' (mix of certain texture).
I already made a pack some time ago (just put together some mods already done), so I was able to create a post in the corresponding forum. But how do I update mods that I'm not the author of the first post?

Just make a post in the thread with the patches hosted somewhere like Mediafire, pCloud, etc. If their general structure is okay I will add them to the first post, or if you think you might want to make more updates to the patch I can give you ownership of the thread.

Hey y'all! We're actually working on making a whole new guide and repository to help support those of you who are making these awesome patches! Stay tuned--I'm sure we'll make an announcement when it's ready!
