Connected Textures Mod

Allows resource packs to add connected textures, emissive rendering, and much more.

Note made on January 12, 2021 - I have long since returned to utilizing OptiFine as my primary method of creating connected textures, and have not issued an update for this patch in over two years. If you want to use the extra CTM functions I added alongside the base patch modifications, I'd recommend looking at this instead.

Supported Blocks

Show
Diamond Blocks* - Sphax
Emerald Blocks* - Sphax
Iron Blocks - Sphax
Gold Blocks - Sphax
Redstone Blocks - Sphax
Lapis Lazuli Blocks - Sphax
Oak Wood Planks - Caden
Spruce Wood Planks - Caden
Birch Wood Planks - Caden
Jungle Wood Planks - Caden
Acacia Wood Planks - Caden
Dark Oak Wood Planks - Caden
End Portal (top and side) - Sphax
Sandstone (all variants) - Sphax
Bricks - Sphax
Glass - Sphax
Terracotta/Hardened Stained Clay (all variants) - Sphax

I did not convert the old bookshelf textures due to the new 3D models.

* = due to the way the CTM mod functions, the texture was slightly changed to function correctly.

Do you love the connected textures of PureBDcraft, but are at a loss of how to use them since sp614x doesn't allow OptiFine in modpacks?
This is misleading.

sp614x will allow OptiFine in modpacks with permission (as stated in his FAQ) and there's nothing stopping a user adding OptiFine manually to get the many benefits of using it with PureBDcraft.

I have reworded it.

I changed your thread to reflect most other release threads and also removed the animosity towards OptiFine.

If you provide some screenshots and also change the pack.mcmeta I will move this to Releases as it's a fairly open-ended patch:

Suggestion for pack.mcmeta description:

Let me address all three.

One, if it seemed like animosity, it wasn't. It was annoyance at all the issues I've run into. I have nothing but respect for sp614x.

Two, I'm running into a broken texture issue with the pack, I'll post a photo once I can get it functional again. This is likely caused because for 1.12.2 packs, I've noticed that on top of the base patch, I can only run a modpack patch of around 139 MB before textures start breaking, and not far above that it will simply refuse to load for me.

Three, I will change the pack description.

Those of you who download this and use it for your packs and have BuildCraft also in may notice a graphical problem with iron, gold, and diamond blocks. For some reason, when BuildCraft is present, it breaks the textures for these. I made a GitHub post about this a couple weeks ago, so just keep a heads-up.

I also have not figured out proper overrides for the stair randomizers yet, which is why you'll see stairs having strange textures in the center.

I tried this patch, but ran into a problem: digging sand in the desert with this active causes severe fps lagspikes. Possibly an amplified effect of this bug: https://github.com/Chisel-Team/Connecte ... /issues/53 - The "Force Threaded Chunk Rendering" helps a little, but not enough for me to be willing to keep the patch (and mod) active.

Have you actually seen him grant anyone permission? I've only seen him deny permission in several GitHub issues (and apparently ignore requests for clarification of why said permission was denied), so I can't help but wonder how sincere he is being in the FAQ.

I have so far only used the patch while playing on my creative server. So far, I haven’t noticed any major lag when using it. I haven’t added any textures for sand, although there are sandstone textures present.

As far as sp614x’s limitations are concerned, Tekkit Classic does have OptiFine, but as it’s a 2012 pack I’m sure he likely changed his mind, and the reason he likely limits OptiFine distribution is so he can ensure he gets money from his ads and to prevent OptiFine from getting hit with massive modpack bug reports, but to know why he truly does it only he can tell you.

sp614x is well within his rights to keep the source code privatized, prohibit modpack distribution, and not reveal his reasoning. While I wish he’d change his mind, unless and until he does, we must respect that.
