Hey guys I have decided to start a sphax resourcepack for the new magical magic mod!
I am gonna have to work a while because I just joined the forums. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Could you please provide a link to the forum thread of the mod? I've never heard of the mod and quite honestly - your textures look weird. Also, you didn't gave credit to Sphax for the texture of the diamond pickaxe you used.

Oh, sorry, I will edit and give credit
Here is the link: https://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/magi ... ical-mods/
PS. this mod came out like 2 or 3 days ago, so that might be why you haven't heard of it.

I would recommend you to try to keep the original sphax flair. The first picture is just a pickaxe, covered in confetti. The second is an arrow (?) with confetti all over it. That doesn't look like a sphax texture but like something you've done in MS Paint. No offense but these textures aren't anywhere near a sphax patch. I don't see any shading, pentagons or some sort of comic look.

Ok, should I just use the sphax stick for the magic stick and give credit to sphax for the stick?
I could also add a little point to the stick so it would look like it does more damadge.
An instead of that stuff you said was confetti, I will use pentagons for that ok?
That would be more sphaxy.

You could look around the forum. There're a lot of tutorials for users that never did sphax texturing before. I'm not an artist so I can't help you with that. Maybe one of the big guys stumbles upon this thread and tries to give you an example of what the above items could look like. ;)

Actually pesti, all I use is MS paint, forgot to tell you that on my last reply T-T it is because I can't seem to get the photoshop CS2 working :-/

Edit: In the meantime, I made this with just MS paint (again full credit to sphax for the pick)

That's what I thought. I doubt anyone can make suitable textures with MS Paint. May god help this thread. ;)

You could try Gimp. Some of the artists are using that.

I just got Gimp, therefore the textures will come out better, and quicker!

Ok mate, I'm gonna give you some help.

First up, indeed you will need a program like Gimp or Photoshop to do sphax texturing. MS Paint just won't cut it. It is very disappointing that you can't get cs2 working, and I'm very confused why you can't.

Although if you do get around to getting a good photoshopping program with VECTORIAL tools then you may need a tutorial or two to learn the basics and rules of sphax texturing.

This link goes to the forum thread where sphax tells you the rules and examples of how shadows, inner glows and strokes work:
https://bdcraft.net/community/pbdc-patch ... -t282.html

This one is a few PSD downloads for texturers of basic items commonly used in texturing mods:
https://bdcraft.net/community/pbdc-patch ... -t183.html

Now there is more than that if you are looking for some more in depth teaching of how to texture.

There are Sparkster's tutorials:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL6vE9 ... mjq6lpmg0w

Then there are mine:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB--im ... qKNi-oCdUA

There is much more to fine out there.

As for you textures, I must agree with pesti, they are just not sphax textures.

Here is an example of my version of the magical stick:

I wish you good luck in your texture making!
