Hello there, we have created a repo of all the most common Sphaxified textures to allow new artists to have a starting point or veteran artists to access and re-use existing common textures. With an emphasis on uniformity - textures like ingots, standard tools, and ores should be nearly identical to each other in order to allow a certain amount of continuity throughout Minecraft. We're hoping artists will use what has already been created as a boilerplate for any new textures they create.

Now, this is by no means to stifle creativity, but to simply provide a starting point for those common textures we've all seen hundreds of times in Minecraft. These kinds of textures should be created in such a way that the user doesn't have to ask "what is that?".

You can also check out the other repositories in the "BDcraft Patches" group: https://github.com/BDcraft-Patches

Those who are savvy with repositories, feel free to make pull requests for renames or including new textures.

Those who are not so savvy, feel free to reply to this thread with requests or suggestions :)

Do you keep the source files with the png files aedaeum? Because that may be a decent idea so they can be modified

After speaking with Aedaeum, I've forked his repo and started adding to it. Before I get into what I've added a couple of notes: Everything I'm doing is 512 x 512, all of the tasks I'm planning are currently in the TODO files in the directories, these will be migrated into issues on GitHub.
  • '''PSD templates for common types of items''' - Some pulled from the forums and modified and/or cleaned up, note that the original creator is credited even if I have heavily modified, otherwise I have created the PSD from scratch.
  • A material swatch library - A list of base colors for materials to help promote consistency and visual identification
  • custom vector tools palettes - These were created using Adobe Configurator and are really just to make working with vectors in Photoshop a bit more convenient.
  • I am close on a few other additions:
    • Remove Transparency Photoshop Action - working out a method that will reliably remove any transparency from layer edges as well as doing some "smoothing" in the process to keep your images from going all super jaggy.
    • Export Sizes Photoshop Action - close to finishing an batch process that will resize your files into all of the various formats while applying the appropriate actions to ensure that the edges look great at each size.
