That's what I figured. I'm stumbling through this and getting something that'll work without too many sore-thumb (vanilla) textures. Anything that requires interaction with a json is a bit out of my range though. How easy is it to pick up and go with that?

It'd be easier just to match textures than to mess with the JSONs...

However, if the model JSONs are actually just standard Minecraft models (I haven't looked at them) then you should be able to learn how they work from this: https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Model

All I did was take the jsons out of the TC jar and stick them into the pack, no messing required.

Oh nice. I guess it would make sense that as long as the textures are in the right place, the jsons would work fine as is.

Been working on a few textures for Thaumcraft 4

Finished the blocks for the outer lands, the missing item textures and I've done the models for the different armours (See Spoiler).

Follow the link in the Op for my downloads for Thaumcraft 4.

These are awesome, I see if I can add them to the TC5 pack.

Edit: Don't want to sound like a complainer, but you didn't do any of the face plates?

Now that I've figured out how to get the face plates, I'll make some. Hopefully by the weekend. Back to work tomorrow.

Outerlands looks a little janky at the moment, but I've added all your textures to the TC5 patch.

Update - Added face plate textures for the fortress armour. Hopefully this goes ok with my janky textures. Whatever that means. :P
