Sonic Ether has released an update to his shaders, which includes Normal and Specular mapping support for better shadows, rendering, and generally a better look. There's not much else to say.
A normal map is basically an image file which the game reads from (in this case the mod itself reads it) and applies bumps and indents according to the file. It would look something like this:

A specular map is similar though it tells the mod how to properly draw lighting on the object. I have no idea how it looks like and have never made a specular map.
I guess I could do it my self but it would be hard considering I don't have access to the tools needed.
