A client log would help, but I'll take a guess that you don't have enough RAM available due to the extra thousand or so textures that the Connected Textures that are enabled with Optifine use.
You can try to assign more RAM to your client, or you can try deleting the /assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/ctm/clay folder.
If both of those do not help you'll need to use lower resolution textures or not use Optifine.

Do as hanfox said and also the resolution of the game can be to large. Another thing you can do is give minecraft more ram
